Hi

Today’s Holy Nougat invites us to think about our response to seasons of brokenness in our lives.

“For everyone here, including the whole palace guard, knows that I am in chains because of Christ.” Philippians 1:13 NLT

It seems a bit strange that Paul would relish being in chains for Christ. Many would understand if he (or any one of us for that matter) were to have complained and been miserable about his state of incarceration. But he was.

Because, for Paul, every situation faced offered a new opportunity to share his faith. And, when in chains, he had a captive audience. For, guards or other such persons would have to attend to him whether they wanted to or not. Plus, Paul knew his rights as a Roman citizen and also utilized that platform to share his testimony. Thus, everybody with whom Paul interacted knew OF Christ, even if they were not all wholly persuaded to follow Christ.

What about us? How do we see God in the midst of our seasons of brokenness? Some of us lose our capacity to believe in God while in chains … for a loving God wouldn’t permit such. Others take the road a bit less traveled.

Here are two real examples of the road less traveled:

One friend testifies of every breakthrough on social media and takes the opportunity to celebrate the gift as well as the giver (Giver included).

Another has written about her experiences ‘Through the Valley’ as a testimony of God’s faithfulness through one of the rough seasons of her life. (See me for copies)

And these are ordinary people who have done such in recent times!

Whichever situation we face, I sincerely pray that we can see God in our circumstances and also share our testimony with others along the way. Even if it’s long after the fact.

Good morning

In Christ’s love and grace . . .
