Nougat 25

Hello

For many; it is Christmas. And yes; many know that it’s not Jesus actual birthday; but seize the opportunity to celebrate family and to celebrate with family. With the rising commercialization of the season; it is all too easy to get sidetracked from acknowledging Jesus.

That being said, I am confident that today’s Holy Nougat will prove helpful as we find the right outfit for all the breakfasts, brunches and soirées during the season.

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves in tender compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience— bearing with one another and forgiving each other, if anyone has a grievance against another. Just as the Lord pardoned you, so also you must pardon others. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfect harmony.” Colossians‬ ‭3:12-14‬ ‭TLV‬‬

Whereas Tender Compassion, Kindness and Humility could easily be underwear; Gentleness is outerwear. And it’s one of those that I often lose. Although asking that one is even-tempered; Gentleness is NOT weakness, wispiness, cowardice or being a loser.

Gentleness may opt for saying a prayer or two prior to responding to a potentially explosive situation. And though direct, by being undergirded by tender compassion does NOT seek to humiliate. It is often a response to situations, and may also help diffuse difficult situations or soothe aches in the physical and emotional realms.

For those like me who struggle with Gentleness; perhaps this is the gift we’d love to receive today. This very moment. I pray even now dear God that above all, we are conscious of Your presence with each of us today. And we crave Your precious gift of Gentleness; not only today, but for all time. Gift us from moment to moment as we may lose it often. Remind us that we desire others (especially You) to be gentle with us, so we ought to be as gentle with everyone. Hear us we pray and clothe us anew dear Jesus amen
