Nougat 25

So hopefully we made the decision to remain faithful yesterday. Of course, we have counted the cost and realized that our choice comes with persecution. We note that persecution comes in many forms, sometimes from ones very close to us. There’s another matter that was raised which we will explore from today’s Holy Nougat

“Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. But evil people and impostors will flourish. They will deceive others and will themselves be deceived.” 2 Timothy‬ ‭3:12-13‬ ‭NLT‬‬

It is worth noting that those who subscribe to evil will not only flourish, but that some are operating out serious deception. This is not for even one minute suggesting that everyone who prospers is given over to evil. For God allows frames the course of all creation, humanity included.

The issue of deception is noteworthy, especially in an era where so many proclaim to be beaters of God’s truth. In recent times, we have heard about different people headlining the news on issues related to scandals. And in many cases, family members are left with the task of picking up the pieces. We pray coverage and transformation even now.

Apart from those high level deceptions, it is likely that we all know of someone who has been victimized by a ‘scamma’. Unfortunately, these have become far more frequent with the increased accessibility of technology. We have to check every offer, especially if it looks too good to be true; even when it stems from churches or seemingly trustworthy businesses sources.

It’s worth noting that imposters are not only bent on deception, but are also experiencing deception. Remember the Word in Galatians 6:7, “don’t be deceived, God will not be mocked.” Any facade worn by any of us will be shown for what it is – like the Sons of Sceva, Barjesus, Ananias and Sapphira. This is the season for worshipping Jesus in spirit and in truth.

I remember the days when I thought ‘dolly-house’ Christianity was actually a genuine manifestation of one’s faith. But God calls us to genuineness in our lived faith. We’re either in and Souled Out, or we’re cold. Bouncing from God to world like a Boatie (or dolly-house patterns) is costly, for we will find ourselves loving one and hating the other, and our decisions will be misinformed. It’s time for placing everything under Jesus’ authority as a precaution against deception.

Can you imagine us pausing a decision to pray about it and literally seeing the smokescreen around it? Or even being frustrated by delays (and even persecution), to discover that God permitted the delay or persecution to realize our breakthrough? This is the time in which we are living, where we can overcome by tapping into the direct connection we have with Jesus.

So rather than get concerned about what is happening around us; let us opt instead to spend time in prayer. Without ceasing. For every situation. In all places.
