Nougat 25

For many of us, an annual appraisal is normative. In that appraisal we reflect on work done in the previous year, taking time to identify strengths and areas for growth. Some of us also face similar appraisals in recovering from injuries: we are tested to determine our body’s healing process and recommendations are made for improvement. One can see that these address the issue of accountability. We don’t exist solely for our by ourselves. As believers in Jesus Christ, we are also equally accountable to Him. Today’s Holy Nougat explains it succinctly

“Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4‬:‭13‬ ‭NLT‬‬

To Whom We are Accountable

Faced with the onslaught of unjustified complaints, a minister told the seemingly disappointed members to raise the (petty and discriminatory) concerns with God. The reasoning, the congregation and the minister were either chosen for each other or permitted to work together by God’s grace. This for better or worse they had to work together until God said otherwise.

Was the minister’s response appropriate?

If no, what did the minister fail to see?

If yes, what has the minister taught the congregation about accountability?

Have we learnt anything about accountability from the exchange?

Siblings, we all will be asked to assess our work and witness while we were on earth. Our calling and talks vary, but the One to Whom we’re ultimately accountable remains the same. That’s Who we really ought to aim to please.

So, should we face a spiritual witness review at this time, would we be confident about our appraisal?
