Nougat 25

It is a beautiful day, filled with promise of God’s grace and mercy. Do we have a witness? May our praise be as joyous as Today’s Holy Nougat

“I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭9‬:‭1‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Wholehearted Praise

What a commitment to make unto God before God and the hosts of Heaven! To speak of the positive attributes of God and to brag about God’s goodness whether to God or others is a serious promise to make. And, when made to God, it is seriously binding. Although not a covenant in the strictest sense, telling God of our intentions towards the God Who honors the integrity of promises is close to making an unbreakable bond with God.

That is a good promise to make, despite being hard for many of us to keep always. Yet, like our decision to follow Jesus, affirm the reality of His total Divinity, trust Him and adhere to His teachings, we make it with total sincerity. And, for many of us, despite our occasional lack of faith, we trust God to help us keep our promise to God.

One very special reason to praise God!

In Psalm 103:3a, the very first blessing (ie benefit) that David highlights as a reason to bless God is God’s capacity for forgiveness. No it doesn’t mean we intentionally seek to break our promise, but it certainly gives us pause to praise. The recognition that when (not if) we do sin, there’s grace, ought to make our hearts sing in gratitude.

I find it interesting that this psalm of praise is to be sung to the tune of ‘Death of the Son’. It is ironic, given that it is the because of the death of Jesus, God’s Son that we know that we have completely secured access God’s grace. Could the psalm not only have been about David’s then experiences, but also prophetic? Only God! For it is definitely our Loving God Who’d have inspired David to write a praise hymn to such a tune.

While most of the psalm recounts God’s mercy and faithfulness, verse 11 invites us to sing praises to God. Knowing our own story, past and current, what would our heartfelt praise comprise?
