What a friend we have in Jesus; all our sins and grief he bears. What a privilege to carry EVERYTHING to God in prayer!
Hello my peeps,
My song is back. No, I don’t always begin our time together with a song; but I’m usually humming/whispering a melody – sacred or secular – as I go about my day. How about you, what keeps you going? Something to ponder as we reflect on today’s Holy Nougat.
Finally, they entered the region of Zuph, and Saul said to his servant, “Let’s go home. By now my father will be more worried about us than about the donkeys!” But the servant said, “I’ve just thought of something! There is a man of God who lives here in this town. He is held in high honor by all the people because everything he says comes true. Let’s gio find him. Perhaps he can tell us which way to go.” 1 Samuel 9:5-6 NLT
Normally, the nougat comprises one verse. But it was essential for us to recognize that Saul and servant were in search of his father’s donkeys. Can you imagine that?! They went seeking the prophet of God to determine the whereabouts of stray donkeys! Can you just hear someone saying, “Like – Really!? Donkeys. Come on now!”
I’m not sure many of us would seek the man of God for donkeys. And, perhaps, by extension, we might not have prayed about it.
But Saul’s servant did.
For those donkeys meant something to him. They might have been the difference between a salary and the unemployment line. Or, he might have reasoned that the man of God would provide an answer which would assure them rest. Whatever the reason, he wasn’t calling it quits without consulting God.
And that’s the point today isn’t it. Us recognizing that we can honestly go before God’s throne to inquire about stray donkeys! Operating in the assurance that If it matters to us – it matters to God. Donkeys and all. Even when we’ve lost our song!
Isn’t it awesome and humbling to know that whatever it is that concerns or excites us, God is ready to share, to intervene, to guide, to be happy with and for us?
Indeed, what a friend we have in Jesus!
