Nougat 25

Good morning

Today’s Holy Nougat invites us to rethink our walk with Jesus. Check it out

“‘Give us this day our daily bread.” Matthew 6:11 AMP

“Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” John 6:35 NLT

So, have you really considered these two in light of each other?

For if Jesus is the Bread of Life as we say he is – and he is – then our request for daily bread could also be a request for our DAILY dose of Jesus! That’s just so awesome.

Seriously can you imagine having not only a daily dose of the Word, but having the Word become flesh with us always? Like from now, always and forever kind of with us? – But isn’t that what He said in Matthew 28:20? His final words? Word! Now that’s Living Word

So if each day we have a RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance) of Jesus, what would that mean? Is there anything in our now life that would have to disappear to accommodate Him? Our thoughts, our dress, our actions, our speech, our social media time, other habits?

And how much is our RDA of Jesus anyway? According to Exodus 16:16, they EACH gathered as much manna as they needed for the day – daily bread – and extra for the sabbath. Ironic; isn’t it – for the theory of foreshadowing would suggest that the manna pointed to Christ, and the writer of the Gospels knew that the readers would make the connection – at least between manna and daily bread. So following this trajectory, the RDA of Jesus is as much as we need Today. Just so. Every time we need Him (and even when we think we don’t).

The main difference between Jesus and manna is the substance. Bread offers perishable sustenance; Jesus offers the value-added (or dare I say values-added) to our day and our life. If Jesus is our daily bread, He’s here with us on the journey, adding companionship, advice, the Holy Spirit, the Fruit of the Spirit, power and sound mind, and several other gifts with Him. Every day.

And what will we talk about – will we spend the day grumbling, or try to be on my best behavior? Will we pitch problems His way, occasionally stop to play or even pray with Jesus right here with me? Will we treat him like a superstar, wanting to be seen WITH Him wherever we go? Or have we already taken His presence for granted, like a trophy husband – only taken our on special moments?

Today, I challenge myself, and you if you are so inclined, to acknowledge Jesus as our Daily Bread; exactly Who we need (our ride or die if you will) for the day. I ask God to make me very aware of Jesus’ presence with me today to the extent that the cares, the struggles, the attitudes become His as I bask in the fullness of His presence with me; that my entire disposition – within and without – shifts to accommodate the Bread of Life IN my life. Please Jesus let it be so, for I sense it will be different from my current existence with You.

Amen
