Your boasting about this is terrible. Don’t you realize that this sin is like a little yeast that spreads through the whole batch of dough? 1 Corinthians 5:6 NLT
The problem with yeast is that once added to flour mixture, it cannot be removed from the dough. And its effect is visible in the load or batch of dough to which it was added. For it is the agent the dough to rise. While it may not show immediately, its presence is still felt.
Here, the reference was to sexual sin. Once committed, it cannot be undone. It can be forgiven, but not undone. And once committed, it affects the body of Christ. It may not seem so, but there are far reaching implications.
A quick read of the international headlines over the last few years (months and weeks even) reveals that sexual sin has become a challenge for the world and the church at large. In one much publicized case in the USA, the public opinion defence for the accused included an argument that Mary was a child when she got involved with Joseph. Really?!!!
This is not the only sin which plagues the church, but it certainly is one which requires our attention.
Let us resolve to avoid sexual or other sins by inviting the Holy Spirit to transform our lives.

Forgive us of our sins, sexual or otherwise. Heal the minds of those who have been hurt by predators and convict us of our wrongdoing we pray, in Jesus’s Holy name Amen
