Note the nature of David’s giving …
1. David gives out of Love for God’s house (church)
2. David acknowledges that he has the material wherewithal to give
3. David willingly gave from his surplus, i.e. from the excess above his planned giving.
Amazing isn’t it?
On the other hand, some of us are offended when asked to give back to the church – whether it be church building, ministers stipends/salaries, welfare minitry or mission – partly because we fail to understand that our giving is TO God, not to fleshy selves. We fail sometimes to grasp the concept of giving OUT OF and FROM Love. Love for God’s house. In those cases, our motives might be a little skewed.
But, the fact that we’re alive today offers us the perfect opportunity to align our Give back to God nature if it’s out of sync.
