Nougat 24

Howdy

Are you an intercessor? For whom do you pray and about what? Consider today’s Holy Nougat

“And pray for me, too. Ask God to give me the right words so I can boldly explain God’s mysterious plan that the Good News is for Jews and Gentiles alike.” Ephesians‬ ‭6:19‬ ‭NLT‬‬

So prayer-intercession is not just asking that Lord to address direct material or physical (health) needs; it is also about praying for those who minister on God’s behalf. For their spiritual needs, divine coverage and that we rightly discern and share God’s Word to a hungry and suffering world.

(I would hope that we actually spend time praying for those being persecuted; persons displaced physically and mentally by war and conflict, climate change etc; for those in untenable situations who desperately need escape buttons; for the poor; migrants; suffering and for political leaders. If not, it’s not too late for us to begin)

When last have we prayed for our spiritual leaders? And what is the nature of our prayers? Do we only pray during worship – ‘Lord, please let them be brief today.’ or ‘Lord, help me to not fall asleep when So and So preaches.’ For while those have merit, they don’t really cover the minister and the need for us to present God’s Word to the world. For that’s our mandate. Every day. Every time. Every place. Without fear or favor. With boldness (not timidity). With humility (recognizing that the subject is Jesus, not ourselves).

Please pray that we might be inspired, anointed and open to God. That we are attuned to God and God’s Word, so we teach, preach and minister accordingly. Pray also for our wellbeing and strength and for our families – for they are our real-time support system; even when we often spend more time with you than with them.

And pray that we don’t yield to the temptation to abuse our power; for many of us have fallen and continue to fall. If/when we fall; pray for our restoration to the fold; just as Christ restored Peter.

May our Lord meet you at the point of your needs, guiding You in grace and peace.
