Nougat 24

Good morning

I listened to a song recently and initially, the lyrics sounded arrogant. But upon further reflection, it was evident that the song was appropriately grounded in Scripture. When breaking strongholds from over our lives, we MUST also be grounded in, applying and weaponizing God‘s Word. That’s what we see in today’s Holy Nougat

“So Joshua called together the priests and said, “Take up the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant, and assign seven priests to walk in front of it, each carrying a ram’s horn.”” Joshua‬ ‭6:6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Containing the stone tablets on which the Ten Commandments were written, the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant was the Centre of Hebrew existence in the wilderness. When traveling, the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant went before them, whether in peacetime or at war; so much so that the nation Israel became vulnerable when the Ark was captured by the Philistines.

The name of the Ark bears the connection to its seemingly mythical power. For the Ark, also called the Ark of the Testimony, was a tangible witness to the unchanging promises (Covenants) of God to God’s people. Hence, the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant. The Ark was covered (veiled) to remind the children of Israel of God’s holy presence. Only Moses and the high priest were permitted full access.

Since the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus, we have unlimited and unveiled access to the Word of God. Both in the literal form of Jesus, the Word Who existed before time and Who fulfilled the Law; and also in the written Word of God, which is bound in print format for easy access. We also, through the power of God’s Spirit, have the full assurance that God is with us wherever we go.

When breaking or destroying strongholds; we apply God’s Word to the situation as appropriate and allow the Word of God, ie God’s Covenant, to do our fighting for us. Remember David with Goliath; ‘You come with sword and spear; BUT I come in the Name of the Lord of Hosts’ (1 Samuel 17:45). After that statement; all he (David) needed was his slingshot and 1 stone. The rest was history.

• So, we identify the stronghold, whether it be a Goliath or a Jericho.

• We stop telling it to all and sundry; but invite prayer warriors (aka intercessors) to join us

• We apply the Word

• And again we march ONCE in silence around the problem (stronghold)

• We leave it in God’s hands
