Would that we faced no trials – here’s today’s Holy Nougat

“It is God’s will that your honorable lives should silence those ignorant people who make foolish accusations against you.” ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭2‬:‭15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

N.b.

No mention is made of avoiding persecution, rather it is the complete opposite. Others shall accuse us. The accusations may be frivolous (ie foolish and baseless), but they will come. And l though the descriptor uses foolish, I note that the original has other meanings. Among them is ‘inconsiderate’ – which, for me, reflects the depth of malicious intent. It also suggests that our accusers might be unaware of the consequences literal and spiritual that accompany their decisions.

Remember David’s response to his servant who gleefully stated that he finished Saul’s death? ‘Touch not the Lord’s anointed and do my servant no harm. This is reiterated in the Psalms, which confirms its application for our own lives (see 1 Chronicles 16:22; Psalm 105:15 for more). What this quote says to me is there is a reckoning for those of us who persecute God’s own. By extension, we might ask for God’s intervention in our distress.

So as we continue our day’s activities, I pray us strength to overcome whatever challenges we face, assured that God knows what we are encountering. And, God will turn it around for good.

May all we seek be found in Christ
