Nougat 24

Please receive today’s Holy Nougat

“Nonetheless, the LORD is waiting to be merciful to you, and will rise up to show you compassion. The LORD is a God of justice; happy are all who wait for him.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭30‬:‭18‬ ‭CEB‬‬

Waiting

Take a deep breath and savor this moment. As you reread the nougat, is there anything that speaks to your heart? Can you sense God’s presence with you?

Listen for a while – yes, just yield to the need to be still in God’s presence. What do you hear? Is there a particular Word you are listening for? Now, try to see God waiting on you, waiting for your call – to intervene; for forgiveness, grace and mercy. Will you take God up on God’s offer?

God’s Word assures that God will save God’s anointed one (Psalm 20:6). And though it may be a reference to the Messiah, within the context of faith in danger, it definitely has scope for us in the salvific work. With this assurance, can you invite God’s Spirit to take over. If you but say the word … God’s peace will confirm that you have been heard by God.

Interestingly, the Hebrew term used for ‘wait’ is similar. Yet we are assured that God will wait, which for me indicates a willingness for us to get on board. The happiness proposed for those who wait on God feels like waiting is anticipation of the breakthrough.

If the root is the same, then it also means that God’s anticipating your request and is already planning how to intervene when you call. That also suggests that we should be willing to have God on board with us: it’s a two-way street.

So breathe in the reality of God awaiting your call. It’s as real as the air you breathe. Knowing that God awaits your invitation in order to act, knowing that God is mighty to save, will you make the call? Will you trust God? Will you wait on God? If yes, happiness is already your portion.
