We continue to reflect on the signs of the End Times with Today’s Holy Nougat
“Jesus replied, “Watch out that no one deceives you. Many will come in my name, saying, ‘I’m the Christ.’ They will deceive many people.” Matthew 24:4-5 CEB
The Real McKoy, actually the real Jesus
We all may be familiar with the game, Simon Says. It’s a set of instructions given to a person or group, generally preceded by the words, ‘Simon Says.’ The response is clear- Do what Simon says. And when Simon does not say ‘Simon Says’, it is actually correct to disobey. I think the point of the game is discerning, but it could be something else. Or as Google tells it – giving and following directions.
I dare suggest that it also establishes the sense of recognizing a single authority figure, Simon, who can be trusted to direct us. If my theory is correct, we could then transpose the concept towards Jesus says. And, in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus actually has a segment called ‘you have heard it said; but I say.’ Jesus is the Real deal for us believers, or as the saying goes the Real McKoy.
It stands to reason therefore that we ought to know Jesus, His nature and His commands, so that we can discern the fakers. And a few have started to crawl out of the woodwork. Not very many as far as I know of, but some very obvious ‘not-Jesuses.’ Are the few fakes, proof of the End Times? Perhaps not. They might be the heats, leading up to the finals, like in the World Games. To avoid possible disqualification, let’s recognize the real deal, Jesus Himself, so we won’t get caught up with the Fakers.
Simon says … a Child’s game; Jesus Says … our ticket to eternity. Jesus our Real McKoy!
