Nougat 24

I remember watching Early Edition, a series about a guy who could see glimpses of the future and who also had the power to change circumstances. So, by way of supernatural gifting, he was able to see the headlines of ‘tomorrow’s paper’, and change the narrative, literally. Since he didn’t always know the people involved in the news, he’d have to do research, and then get to the site where the incident would take place. Then he could intervene. The irony was, he had to make the intervention look natural to those he tried to help.

Not quite as easy as it sounds.

Do you recall that we also have a direct link to One Who knows the future? Yes we do. That’s what Today’s Holy Nougat assures us.

John 16:13 NLT

[13] When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.

God’s Spirit Knows the Future

Having direct access to God in Heaven, God’s Spirit is definitely speaking from God Almighty to us. We receive the undiluted Truth, with zero exceptions. We also have the add-on benefit of this truth sometimes being prophetic (i.e., forth telling what is yet to come; not only knowing the now and what’s already happened). That’s how Daniel and the prophets of old were able to tell what next was happening in the life of their beloved nation. That Who empowered Deborah the judge of Israel. That’s how John was able to record the entire apocryphal volume while imprisoned on the isle of Patmos.

Of course, we realize that Y’shua was offering comfort, or – in the eyes of the distressed disciples – consolation, as He was preparing them for His departure. This was a semi-permanent departure, as He would return once before God’s Spirit was evidenced in such manner. It was thus necessary for Him to explain the work of God’s Spirit in detail.

Self-Check

– With God’s Spirit being a regular feature in our lives as believers, do we need detailed explanations of what God’s Spirit does and how God’s Spirit operates?

– Have you ever experienced God’s Spirit working in/through your lives? How so?(Please note; I’m not referring to someone else prophesying to, or healing you, I am speaking of God’s Spirit being manifested through you).

Application

Although we may not need to solve the mystery of our assignment each day; we do have access to foreknowledge. This is evident both in the Word of God and by God’s Spirit at work within us. We don’t need a cat or spirit guides to tell us how to or what to do; because we have direct access to God through Y’shua and God’s Spirit living inside us.

While we don’t use the giftings of God’s Spirit for personal gain, we recognize that by God’s grace, the access we have to God is potent. If we haven’t been taking advantage of the gifts God offers us through God’s Spirit dwelling within us:

– the chance to beat the Fruit of Love, Joy, Peace, Long-suffering, Goodness, Faith, Gentleness, Meekness, and Patience;

– the ability to walk by Faith (God’s Spirit) and not sight;

– the joy of manifesting the many and varied spiritual gifts to strengthen believers and convince others of Jesus’ divinity and God’s grace;

– then we’ve been wasting time. Precious time!

Assignment

What are we waiting for? Time’s-a-going.

Let’s allow God’s Spirit full access to our lives and let’s be open to God’s Spirit working in and through our lives.
