Please pardon the late posting, I got off to a late start today. Nevertheless, here’s today’s Holy Nougat
“Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything.”
Colossians 1:18 NLT
The head houses the brand which directs impulses to the rest of the body. There is a sense in which the body does not function ‘normally’ without the brain’s direction. Motor functionality, speech, auditory impulses, reasoning blood pressure, breathing and heart rates are but a few of its important coordination roles. As Christ’s body, we cannot expect to function without our Brain.
Perhaps that would explain some of our dysfunctional relationships within and outside the Church. We have been deceived by the notion that we are the head and can function outside of Christ’s leadership and direction.
But what if we were to put pride aside (as well as the petty differences which negate our witness) and recognized we truly are utterly and totally dependent upon Christ for our everything? Grasped that in Him we live, move and have our being? Determined that we were going to seek God’s direction before acting? Maybe then, He (Christ) would assume priority place in our lives and hearts, and it’d be Christmas every single day.
