Greetings

I’m not certain that you will receive this as the connection here is spotty. Nevertheless, here’s today’s Holy Nougat

“The disciples were astounded. “Then who in the world can be saved?” they asked.” Matthew 19:25 NLT

In order to fully appreciate the disciples’ question; some of us may require a bit of background on our nougat. A seeker had approached Jesus about what he ought to DO to access eternity. When confronted by Jesus’ response, the young seeker began to rethink his desire.

The issue was that technically; the seeker had been doing the right things. Possibly for the wrong reasons. Operatively, he was going through the motions. But his wealth seems to have obstructed folks’ ability to discern what Jesus saw. This genuine question about Who qualifies for eternal life suggests that even the disciples had succumbed to the thinking of What God desires from us.

Wealth, status, race, gender, or even nationality have no bearing on our access to eternity with God. Not even religious or social standing does. Psalms 51 and 24 indicate that access to God’s eternity is reliant upon our heart status – repentance and right relationship.

With that, we may wish to reconsider our attitudes towards sinners and hypocrites seated in the pews of our churches – we are counted among them. We may also wish to revisit OUR criteria for eternity with God. We may find God’s criteria a bit different from our own. Without a doubt, we may need to humbly ask God what it is we need for securing our salvation. I guarantee we are likely to get a personal response.

In Christ’s love and grace . . .
