Nougat 23

So we deepened our relationship; aligned to God’s Spirit and even got angered on God’s behalf. What next? Especially if nothing seems to have changed. Consider today’s Holy Nougat

“Wait for Adonai. Be strong, let Your heart take courage, and wait for Adonai.”

Trust me on this – waiting on God’s timing it’s not always easy. Take King Saul for example – he was convicted and anointed by God’s Spirit and performed Great exploits in God’s name. Then he faced his greatest test as king. Having failed to fully rally the kingdom God-ward, Saul was due to meet Samuel the prophet at the appointed location in Gilgal (meaning: ‘where the reproach was rolled away’). It was a major worship site in those days.

Seven days later: NO sign of Samuel; despite the agreement. The people were weak, tired, miserable and perhaps a bit agitated. Some had already defected. Saul needed to take action. He could

Well, he did his own thing. As many of us often do.

But that wasn’t God’s will. That one act of impatience, that act of disobedience – cost him the kingdom!

For his appointment came from God, not himself. (see 1 Samuel 13 for more details). And says seems to have forgotten that. It may seem harsh, but yielding to God’s Spirit and waiting on God’s timing has far greater long-term benefits than doing our own thing. Even when it seems God has forsaken us.

On the other hand, having taken forever to align with God’s plan; Moses finds himself at the edge of the decision – between pharaoh and the turbulent Red Sea – and no reprieve from the people who were initially praising him for leading them out of Egypt. God gave the directive for the children of Israel to press forward. Into the depth of the sea – priests first.

Imagine the rumbling that must have taken place!

Exodus 14 offers a précis version. But Moses, his rod, the priests and the people found that God honoured God’s Word. And their path became VERY clear in the midst of the Red Sea!

Only God

Sometimes we are directed to soldier on; through the pain, through the emotional trauma (like Hagar), through the suffering. And it seems like there’s no reason. Honestly, I have no explanation. But even in those moments, I still say, ‘Wait. Wait on God. Place our fears, our burdens and our concerns on God. Seek God’s Peace amidst the turmoil , confirming God’s presence on our path. And when nothing seems to happen; prayerfully Wait on God!’
