Nougat 23

Published on

Hello

I was struck by the words for today’s Holy Nougat when I read them a few days ago.

Then the gatekeepers shouted the news to the people in the palace. 2 Kings 7:11 NLT

For some reason it dawned on me that you could NOT just get past the watchman without stating your business in very clear terms. And maybe, after you stated your purpose, you might have audience with the king or the relevant official.

Times have changed somewhat, as security personnel are to be found everywhere; but I’m confident that access to a monarch or national leader is still restricted. Yet, with a few words we ALWAYS have access to the King of kings and Lord of lords. No matter where we are. No matter what time of day!

Awesome isn’t it?

Now here’s the troubling irony …

  • Despite unrestricted unlimited access to the King of kings – are we actually seeking audience with Our Sovereign on a regular basis?
  • When caught in difficult situations; are our movements such that the Gatekeepers of Heaven would have cause to spread the news and come to our rescue? (Remember that there are hosts of angels assigned to war on behalf of God’s children – ask Daniel if you’ve forgotten; chapter 9.)
  • When things are going great, do our hallelujahs ring out to heaven so that the Gatekeepers wish to share our Good News?
  • Does the Sovereign even hear our thanksgiving for the good times?

No matter how greatit it is, let’s decide to improve our relationship with Our Sovereign today.

In Christ’s love and grace . . .
