Hello
How do you use your time? And by time, I’m not referring to physical energies, but instead, how do we use our mind?
Today’s Holy Nougat gives some good food for thought
“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” Philippians 4:8 NLT
We have perhaps all heard of the benefits of meditation, and if you were with the Nougats from the early days, you might even have heard of the connection between meditation and worry. (If meditation is focused thinking on a particular issue; then worry is meditation on the worst case outcomes of ‘what if’ thinking; often without taking preventative actions). And recognizing the difference is fairly important if we seek to maximize the use of our time.
However I would challenge us to go a little bit further in thinking about our use of our time by considering What it is that occupies our thoughts throughout the day. We could categorize them loosely, e.g. work/studies, family, church, leisure, friends/relationships … (You are welcome to use other categories); or be more specific. Whichever you choose, think also about what is at the back of our minds when we’re doing routine things.
What occupies most of our thought time generally?
Why?
How does it add value to our lives or contribute to our success?
Does it actually honor or bring positive attention to God?
(Ouch; I think one of those questions just bit me)
If there be any value; if God’s Purpose is fulfilled, let’s continue to think about those things.
Good morning
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
