Hello, hello, hello

May the presence of God’s love be evident in your life today.

Here’s today’s nougat

The power of life and death stem from the tongue. Whatever we choose is reflected in our speech.

We were in the midst of a very welcome and enjoyable family vacation. As always, bowling was part of the plan. I laughingly told the novice in our midst about my lack of skills and encouraged him by emphatically advertising my failures.

When we got to the Lanes, my game was the worst ever. No matter what I did, I barely managed to get a few pins down. Strangely, MY low scores were almost depressing me and that made my game even worse. I prayed. Nothing happened.

It was a bit painful to see my pitiful score at the end of the first round. I was securely in last position, with the next person several multiples of 10 ahead of me.

Then I heard it … I recalled my own voice insisting that I’m the worst bowler ever. And the Holy Spirit’s voice reminded me that sometimes when bad things keep happening in our lives, we are the culprits.

That happens when WE SPEAK negatively over our own lives, giving much room to the enemy.

What if we spoke life, over our own lives, so that the fruit of our speech is pleasant to the experience?

{P.s. it also affects what we say about others and even comparisons we often make}

Today, I urge us to choose life.

Lord, help us to speak life, in Jesus’s name, amen.
