Danger or trials is a very natural part of life. It comes in response to our choices; it comes as a challenge to our well ordered lifestyles and may also serve to define our strengths and weaknesses. Oftentimes danger exposes to us and others what our faith truly looks like.
Today’s Holy Nougat is a litmus test for our own response to danger/ trials
Turn us again to yourself, O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved. Psalms 80:19 NLT
The psalmist spoke on behalf of a broken people to God. S/he recognised that regardless of how they got themselves in the ensuing situation; God was their sole solution.
Ironically, the psalmist recognised God’s sovereignty and wonders why God’s hand is stayed in the current circumstances. Can we relate? Further, there is the impassioned plea for divine intervention, which is NOT accompanied by action indicative of self-solving. Could that be where we go wrong?
How do we relate to God when we find ourselves in seasons of trials? Do we recognize God’s sovereignty, invite God’s intervention and allow God to be God; or do we seek to find our own solutions even while asking God to intervene? Are we even open to accepting corporate responsibility for troubles which are not really of our own making ( crime, politics, wars, etc)? And would we then seek God’s intervention and forgiveness?
May we find the strength to allow God to be our Sole Problem Solver.
