Hi

Blessings and grace to you

Here’s today’s Holy Nougat

“So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.”

1 Thessalonians 5:11 NLT

Word.

That ought to be every human’s aspiration; and every Christian’s practice. We know however that ought and is are sometimes light years apart.

Being an encouragement to others is a full time job as it requires keeping abreast of others, nurturing the patience to listen and be present, as well as finding the Christ light amidst somewhat extenuating circumstances.

It is not ‘look at the bright side … it could be worse’; or ‘God knows best my dear’, with a pat on the back (that’s often more discouraging than helpful; and sometimes requires us being the recipient of such to appreciate how frustrating and empty a statement it is). Though it can be the honesty of silence or, ‘I really don’t know what to say, but I’ll join you in prayer’. It could even mean one’s pressing issue being ignored for the well-being of another’s.

In a world where encouragement and building another up is no longer the norm, we may choose to be the difference. In prayer, action and speech. Who knows, it might just become a habit.

In Christ’s love and grace . . .
