Hello,
Many of us are jealous of our time. We get absolutely annoyed with folks who waste their time. We get absolutely cross at others who initiate conversations, and ignore the agreed-upon arrangements. It can be so annoying. But what about the moments when we waste God’s time? Ouch, something to try to digest along with today’s Holy Nougat™
Then another angel with a gold incense burner came and stood at the altar. And a great amount of incense was given to him to mix with the prayers of God’s people as an offering on the gold altar before the throne. Revelation 8:3 NLT
When I read this passage as part of my day’s devotion, I remembered a story associated with it. About empty incense burners and non-existent prayers. Not good. Not good at all.
Can you imagine our YHWH, filled with anticipation for our date only to be disappointed time and time again? All because we were too busy, too tired or too distracted to attend to what really matters.
Not good. Not good at all.
Can you imagine the angels assigned to congregations and individuals awaiting at the altar, ready to mix the prayers in with the incense … except that there’s loads of incense and far too few prayers? (Here’s hoping I’m wrong)
Not good. Not good at all.
Especially when the church’s credibility is at stake, and so many are dying without the benefit of an act of kindness or a word of prayer.
What if …
You and I were to each commit to meeting with God “in the cool of the day’ at least once daily, just because.
What if …
Thanks to our commitment, others began to seek God’s face and we were to see God’sgot being revealed
What if …
The angels standing at the altar couldn’t mix the prayers and incense fast enough
What if!
May God grant that our “what if’s” outnumbered our “Not good’s”.
