Nougat 21

If our blessings are solely dependent upon the way we navigate our way through advice; how many of us would be in trouble. Consistently. Today’s Holy Nougat isn’t just about that. Rather we focus on God’s will.

“Happy is the one who has not walked in the advice of the wicked, nor stood in the way of sinners, nor sat in the seat of scoffers.” Psalms 1:1 TLV

As we reflect on being attuned to God’s Spirit, we recognize and recall that we are known by the company we keep. Being attuned to God is NOT going to happen if God is not our priority.

We further note that trouble comes when we are more involved with persons living outside God’s will than with God. With that, we can conclude that God is offended by the ways we mismanage our lives and our time.

With whom do we spend our time? With persons of like minds and intent, or with the ‘in crowd’? As ones seeking to please God, our priority lies with God first, and then others. Hence the First Commandment reminds us that as our Deliverer, we love and serve God with all our hearts, soul and strength.

The nougat is clear; relationships can be a slippery slope – with the wrong people in our lives; we can degenerate towards attitudes that are antithetical to God’s way. We can find ourselves moving from moments of occasional acquaintance to seeking advice, to even giving them priority time in our lives.

Of course this is not saying that is the only way to displease God. However in a world of rationalization of friendships and intimate relationships with the term ‘Christian-minded’; it is easy to see how we overlook this.

Let us choose to be God-focused and Christ-fearing as we strengthen our intimacy with God.
