“For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” Philippians 2:13 NLT
Hallelujah
God is at work in me! And in you, and in any other who desires to know Him. That is praise dance kind of news. For already, that’s assurance that we are NOT alone. Especially in those rough moments when it feels as if we’re caught between the devil and the deep Red Sea. But let’s not get complacent; for if God is working IN us, then it also means that we have patches within each of us that are not as they should be.
And, unfortunately thanks to our sin nature, that is entirely true. Despite our better judgement and no matter what we can do FOR ourselves; we don’t qualify for self-cleansing. Not if we seek alignment with God’s Spirit. Thus, we need God’s intervention. For Who better to get us aligned than God?
Further, the joy we just shared comes with the recognition that the work God is manifesting in us has a clear goal: that each of us finds the heightened desire to be in God’s will. So here comes the point of introspection – are we finding ourselves seeking more and more to be aligned with God’s Spirit, God’s will and God’s purpose for our lives? ie Are we living IN God’s purpose ON purpose?
For if that’s not happening then it means that we have to stop to see what’s going on. Remember, the Word is – God is AT work within us. No qualifications. But there are things that can impede the process. Like our unbelief. Like our disobedience. Like slothfulness. Don’t misunderstand me, God IS capable of overriding our attitudes and actions. But, as we may recall, God works alongside us to realize in us God’s plans. And that’s where the challenge comes.
So, what if when we realize we’re not where we need to be we opted to
repent of the obstacles our humanness create
be open to the mighty move of God’s Spirit?
I believe that this might result in the transformation that God seeks to effect in us.
