If God visited now what would you do? Consider today’s Holy Nougat
“That night the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream, and God said, “What do you want? Ask, and I will give it to you!”” 1 Kings 3:5 NLT
The common phrase was, ‘I will give you up to half my kingdom.’ But that wasn’t on offer. Perhaps because Solomon already had a kingdom; but definitely because God’s kingdom is available for all but is not for sale. Nevertheless, how would you respond?
For some of us, this is a no-brainer. Our list of top asks is on our the tips of both fingers and our tongues. Others of us might ponder and take days to get back to God, as we have to consult with friends and family first … Yet others may think it’s a scam and ignore.
But we know that in one sense, God’s already asked this question. And, though there are conditions, the offer is legit. Do we remember Jesus’ words to the disciples in John 15? If you (us, the disciples) abide in me (Jesus), and my (Jesus) Word abides in you, [then]… you can ask for what you desire and it will be granted.
So yes, we also have the carte blanche from God. And when we fulfill our part of the ‘covenant’, that is – allowing God’s Word to dwell in us richly (Colossians 3:16), even as we abide in Jesus; we’ll find that we’re strategically aligned for great God-things to happen. In fact, we may be surprised to see what happens in those moments.
So – are we abiding? And are we then ready to make our requests known to God?
If God were to make our desires a reality, what would we ask?
