Recently, news of serious challenges in the Jamaican banking sector has threatened the peace of mind of many who I’m sure thought those days had long gone. For those who have been caught in the crosshairs, please receive my prayers for divine intervention. Today’s Holy Nougat might apply to you.
“I cannot eat for sighing; my groans pour out like water.” Job 3:24 NLT
Gracious and loving God
We know that You are God and time and seasons are in Your hands. Lord You know all things and You order our steps. This season has been rough dear Jesus, for us Your children and for several who do not call on Your name. Although Your Word says vengeance is Yours, the temptation looms and lingers to seek our own justice and judgement for this one is hard!
Did the political leaders not care since the last fall out in the financial sector, or are they complicit? And those swirling rumors while people’s hard earned monies land unlawfully in the pockets of others. Dear Jesus, please intervene!
We cannot eat for sighing; our groans pour out like water
For those who have become collateral damage in conflicts not of their making, please Jesus have mercy! Wondering if they will be next to die, trying to figure out how to live between bullets and militias. Children being raped and militarized, drugs used to coerce and transform the unwilling to comply.
We ponder all who profit from conflict, the manufacturers of arms, who supply the nations with high tech weapons and in some instances, train the people on guerrilla warfare. Lord, where are their consciences – their lips are charged with their hypocrisy; for they turn around and judge others for the instability they help to perpetuate. Jesus please have mercy
We cannot eat for sighing; our groans pour out like water
And when this world comes closing in on us, for whatever reason: depression, death of loved ones, suicidal thoughts, fatigue, marital problems, singleness, emotional distress, finances, sickness, unemployment, threatening issues – forced marriage, miscarriage, stressful pregnancies, work stress … whatever else dear Jesus; help us remember that You are our Refuge, a present help in danger.
Remind us that You genuinely collect our tears in a bottle and that You truly care. You know our hearts, and our proclivity to doubt, heal our brokenness and dry our tears
We cannot eat for sighing; our groans pour out like water
Merciful Jesus, help us lean on You, for our own understanding and strength fail us. Have mercy please Jesus, amen
