Hi
Back in the day the average Jamaican child was guaranteed some Choice slaps if we were caught hollering God’s name in vain. My siblings and I had a friend who then would exclaim Deedat Dite, confident that that served as a Get Out Of Punishment card. We didn’t understand the Power in Jesus’ name. Yet, our God honors God’s Word even more than anything else, including God’s (sacred/holy) names. Awesomeness! And here, in today’s Holy Nougat is one reason why
“It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.” saiah 55:11 NLT
Unconditional effectiveness; that’s what we’re being told, is the impact of God’s Word. Not subject to manipulation for our purposes, but direct. So perhaps we ought to ask the Lord what is to be accomplished and what is the Word for work, family, school, religious, political, relationships, financial, leisure, health, social and even hostile situations. For then, We become subject to God’s Word, rather than us trying to subdue God’s Word to our Will.
That seems counter to us asking and receiving until we recall that we Seek God’s Will and Purpose FIRSTLY and thereafter other things follow. And that unconditional response to our requests come when God’s Word – the same one which doesn’t return void – ABIDES in us! That’s no casual uttering of God’s Word to effect our hearts desires.
So perhaps our greater task is to figure out the How’s of abiding in God to the extent that, in turn, God’s Word abides within us. For that’s the same Word which bears fruit EVERY TIME it goes forth. That’s the Word which effected a midnight jailbreak, healed a crippled beggar, restored life to the dead and realized rain in the middle of a scorching drought. That’s the Word which can restore marriages, overturns policies, heals broken bodies and minds and quickens a soul into life in Christ.
James says if we wish Wisdom simply ask for it. Might I suggest that we also ask the Lord to help us to truly abide to the extent that God’s Word will not pass through us like bad food; but abides within us forever. That’s my prayer for me right now; starting right now. Cause I’m tired of merely existing, I’m ready to Truly Live since God’s Word is life and power.
What say you? Will you also choose to abide in God and in turn experience God’s Word abiding deeper within?
Lord may Your Word bear fresh fruit even now in Jesus name amen
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
