Today’s Holy Nougat™ serves as a reminder of how precious we are to God, or Creator, and invites our prayerful response.
You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. Psalms 139:16 NLT
What a blessed assurance – that God truly knows us and still wants to keep the relationship going. Amazing love!
It also means that God is totally aware of the good which takes place in our lives and just as integrally aware and involved in our comfort when the bad stuff creeps in.
So, in the trying times, when we require assurance that God is with us, perhaps it would be helpful to storm the Throne of Grace until we sense God’s presence or receive a response (even if it’s not quite what we’d hoped to hear).
There are times when we cannot find the words to express all we wish to say to God. That’s ok. It happens. As Christians, we’re reminded that when we’ve run out of words, the Holy Spirit runs interference for us, transforming our groans and mutterings into prayer.
There’s also our Prayer Language. It’s kinda like the babbles which babies make – except that they’re more defined, sometimes distinct language forms. (I suspect baby babble is understood by the Holy Spirit, so …) Our prayer languages provide direct access to our God who knows EVERY nitty gritty detail of our lives.
We can also find what to say in the Word of God. We can pray the promises or apply the miracles and teachings to our life contexts while we pray. This also makes for reassurance in stressful times, just as we assure ourselves of God’s involvement in our lives at this time.
And there is intercession. Someone standing in the gap on our behalf. Only recently, I was rendered speechless by a situation and a couple of friends prayed with and for me at different points along the way. That’s intercession. In fact, sometimes God sends these persons to come pray with us, just like the saints prayed and Peter got out of jail.
That’s how wonderful our God is.
Providing multiple means for communicating when our own words fail us. Laying out the plans for our lives individually in our book. How do we respond to such amazing Love? It really is too wonderful for words.
