My sons, do not neglect your duties any longer! The Lord has chosen you to stand in his presence, to minister to him, and to lead the people in worship and present offerings to him.” 2 Chronicles 29:11 NLT
In this historic exhortation to the Levites, Hezekiah makes some very important revelations
- The Levites were God’s ELECT; granted direct access to God so that they might lead Worship and pave the way for offerings to God.
- A long time had elapsed between the fulfillment of their call and their re-call
- They seemed to be unaware of their purpose.
Let’s consider our context
We are advised by Peter that we’re called by God as a Royal Priesthood; we are God’s ELECT. Thus, we also have a spiritual mandate to fulfill. A very long time has elapsed between the original crucifixion and our individual call. And many of us are unaware of God’s purpose for us.
And a Child of God walking outside his/her purpose is like a light gone dim. Do you know your purpose? Let’s invite the God who created us for Good Works in Christ Jesus to help us discern our call to witness.
