Nougat 20

Hi

How are ya? Today’s Holy Nougat comes with a slight challenge – can you agree with the testimony?

“The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease.” Lamentations 3:22 NLT

The verses that precede this nougat tell a story of unbearable travail. And amidst the pain the writer, Jeremiah, calls to memory his knowledge of Who God is and how God operates. According to Strong’s Concordance, the original passage says, ‘[It is of] the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed; because His compassions fail not.’ In other words, having remembered to call on God, Jeremiah realizes that the saga of unfortunate events in the life of the children of God has one specific oft-overlooked feature: It is By God’s Grace that we survived our journey. Nothing but God’s grace.

And if God’s grace allows us to survive the experiences we have had; then there is more purpose to the experience than the trauma it generates. It might be to provide us with a vaccine for the next time such an experience attempts to visit. It might be for the impact of our testimony for someone else. It might be a call to minister to others who need rescuing from a similar situation. Rest assured, God doesn’t waste any experience – not even the bad ones (including Lockdown and all that happens during this time).

Moreover, if we rehearse the experience, we might just be able to identify God’s hand sustaining us amid the challenges. How do we relate to that?

God’s grace has carried and sustained us thus far – do we trust God to sustain us now and through the next travail?

And lastly, if we know the reality of God’s grace in troubled times, A) what do we do with that knowledge? how do we respond to someone in their own troubling season?

God’s Steadfast Love protected us from being totally destroyed – we’ve made it thus far; God’s merciful grace will continue to keep us.

Hallelujah!

In Christ’s love and grace . . .
