Blessed day my dear
With whom does our allegiance lie?
Please consider as we savour today’s Holy Nougat™
For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? or am I striving to please men? if I were still pleasing men, I should not be a servant of Christ. Galatians 1.10 ASV
Sometimes it is helpful that we pause for a spiritual checkup. There are times when our actions begin with spiritually pure motivation, only to be disturbed by external factors that shift our focus from God to others.
It may be as simple a distraction as a memory of past reactions to our service to God (been there), or a chance comment thrown our way … Might I encourage us – remain focused. It could be a Martha observation of everyone’s Mary approach to the tasks set before us (everyone open to eat, not to wash up; everyone impervious to the cleanliness needs; etc). Then, we might need Brother Lawrence’s approach – practice the Presence of God.
Recall that all that we do reflects our personal love response to Ultimate Love. Is there really room for selfless devotion to another (including the employment, which for many of us HAS taken Lordship over our lives)?
If there is, perhaps we may need to rekindle (or create) the flame of Love for God which overrides all else.
Lord may our actions be geared at You-pleasing in every facet of our lives – public and private. Help us to avoid thinking and responding to others by putting our faith aside, as without that, we really have limited options or identities. Be glorified through the works of our hands and lives we pray, in Jesus’s name amen.
Thanks for sharing this time with me and with God!
In Christ
