Nougat 20

How has this series helped you in contextualising all we face daily in the Faith? Drop me a line if you haven’t already done so. We pull everything from the past week together as we reflect on today’s Holy Nougat
“There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all, in all, and living through all.” Ephesians 4:5-6 NLT
So … in these times when it is sometimes hard to figure out how to be; we have the assurance of God’s presence. We know that doctrine might (will) separate, but it cannot be allowed to overtake our core values or our identity. As believers; we pray to One God; to Whom we return full control of our lives in the capacity of Parent, Sovereign, Creator. We recognize that we bear the Image (likeness) of God, through the DNA coursing through us in an existential manner (remember the Higgs Boson particle’s other name?), and through our Faith.
Having come to these conclusions; what then? I dare suggest that we revert to where our study began earlier this week: we walk Worthily of this precious vocation to which we have been called. For salvation in Christ is both a Gift AND a Vocation.
It is a Gift; we did not purchase it and never can. We can Choose to receive it. But we can Never Ever earn it. Christ did that already. Our Right Response to the Gift is a Full-time pursuit. It matters not where or who we are in life – whether we are students, teachers, employees, supervisors, entrepreneurs, sick; healthy, possessing the skills or not, persons with disability or otherwise, young, old, lay or ordained. Once we receive the gift of salvation, sharing that good news is (ought to/has to become) our Chief Priority. And that makes it our vocation.
Even when others look at us askance (with disdain); we look to our One God, Who lives in us through Jesus, to direct us in living our vocation. We don’t have to argue Faith with others – we either are sharing with other believers or inviting others to discover their full lives in Christ. What an overwhelming task! And yet, we are not alone. Not only do we have saints with us now, and the many others who have preceded us; but we also have God’s Spirit to direct our thoughts; words and actions.
So how about it – shall we embrace this calling once again? Right here and now?
Lord and Father of us all; forgive us for failing to pursue our calling of salvation as You would have us. We recognize that we have been at odds with others in the Faith, help us forgive them and love them through prayer
