Please receive today’s Holy Nougat

“For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:12‬ ‭TLV‬‬

To see dimly in a mirror means we’ve not got the full picture. That’s why we know in part. The question then is, what is it that (we think) we know? We can argue that we know the tangibles; and that’s fine. But how far do the tangible things take us? For when it comes down to the wire, it is the intangibles that we seek to understand. Things that may have a basis in provable fact, but that might require some Faith for the final outcome.

Whether it’s a toothache, war, peace, love and True Love – which are all real; yet not so easily understood. We work for peace, the end of war; usually with firepower. But somehow in the process, we find that the war remains within; until there’s intervention. We worry about war; and we might even sense it coming – whether it’s a major battle like the threat Ukraine faces; or a skirmish with our neighbors – but we don’t know what will blow up the situation or when. We might have as many cavities as the other person; perhaps even fewer, but most of us cannot predict when a toothache will surface; and we often can’t see it. Most of us consider ourselves love experts, yet we usually can’t predict when we actually will experience deep and abiding feelings for another. And even then, we have to work to maintain it.

We have True Love! The Love of God that reaches out and touches us amidst our storms; the place of solace and hope that fills those dry, empty and yearning spaces deep inside. Yet, even for us believers; we only have a glimmer of God’s love. And even what we do know; we do not understand it fully.

This moment True Love says we don’t have to understand God or the ways of God’s Love; but we can receive and embrace it and bask in the wonder of it all. For God loves US; each of us. Totally, individually, despite our shame, in spite of our present and past; regardless of the mistakes we WILL make in the Future. All because God chooses to love us with an everlasting love.
