Here’s today’s Holy Nougat
“Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.” Ecclesiastes 3:11 NLT
How is it that us humans, who fail at grasping the fullness and scope of God’s handiwork, feel qualified to take the role of Creator and the Almighty from time to time? Isn’t it presumptuous of us – the created, to even consider dictating to the Creator, or ignoring the Creator as we do our own thing?
What is perhaps even stranger, is that our Creator CHOOSES to ignore us, giving us enough time to come around to the reality that only God is God. And us humans; although created in God’s likeness, although a little lower than God (psalm, although given jurisdiction and stewardship over all created; ought to realize that we are not God.
That being said, then our simple task has two aspects:
1. Determining what on earth we have been given jurisdiction over, thus becoming preoccupied with the right activities
For, when we are in Purpose, we open ourselves to self-fulfillment and even personal satisfaction as we complete the slightest of tasks. And, we have the added advantage of operating in God’s strength and not relying only our own.
2. Taking time to discover the beauty that is around us; and making the time to praise God for them all.
Sometimes the beauty is in the details, sometimes it’s in the combined effect of God’s processes; and many times, the beauty can not be discerned by the natural eye. For the insider is unlikely to grasp the beauty or merit to be found in tragic circumstances. And in those instances, the task may be more about praising God despite the pain and finding comfort in other gifts bestowed by our ever loving God.
Of course, we cannot grasp the fullness of eternity gifted us. But we not only know the One Who has blessed us with eternity; we are also afforded the opportunity daily to maintain and deepen our relationship with God. With no idea when our physical grasp on eternity ends; we can live each day to our best; making them count even beyond the natural.
