Nougat 2

Hello, hello, hello!

Christmas seems to be over, but technically there’s a few days left until Epiphany, or Three Kings’ Day. With the bulk of the season behind you, how are you coping? Were you still able to find time for God amid the busy spaces of Christmas and Advent?

Here’s today’s nougat

My soul yearns for you in the night, in the morning my spirit longs for you. When your judgements come upon the earth, the people on the earth learn righteousness. Isaiah 26.9

Night. The dry season of the soul. The time when one feels most alone and fears are faced or identified. Night. Not so much of chronological time in the spiritual realm, but one which nevertheless ends at morning’s light.

And yet, even in the morning the need for God remains. Could it be that sometimes night comes when we find ourselves separated from God’s love? Not by God’s hands, but perhaps through our will? Or the will of others (including fellow Christians). But it’s not so much the what created night in our soul that matters, it’s what we do with the yearning. For, it is in that season that we have the potential to draw even closer to God’s love.

May these early days of the year bring renewal and comfort.
