When the Word of God affords us to discern motives, we know we’re dealing with real aspects of God’s power. Here’s the thing, God’s Living Word is not only laser-sharp, God may even use the Word to give us foresight in some life situations. How so? Consider Today’s Holy Nougat

Hebrews 4:13 CEB

[13] No creature is hidden from it, but rather everything is naked and exposed to the eyes of the one to whom we have to give an answer.

All Exposed

She kept getting the same Scripture in various settings. Finding no clarity on her own, she asked God for revelation.

God responded.

It was like a prophetic word to her spirit, preparing her for what was to come. Thankfully, she heeded. So when the situation came her way, she was prepared. Using God’s Word as her lamp (see Psalm 119:105), she found her way out. This example is a combination of various people’s experiences, but it could easily have been one person’s story.

Self-Check

If this were our story, would we have prayed for clarification?

Digging Deeper

Since the Bible points us to God’s heart, and reveals Y’shua to us, and we know that Y’shua is at the right hand of God (see Matthew 22:44; Acts 2:33); we have a full guarantee that God can and will speak to us through Scripture.

James tells us that hearers of the Word who don’t practice godly lifestyles are like vampires (people who look in the mirror and forget what is reflected). Isn’t that a very real insight for us when we interact with such persons? Likewise, the warning to steer clear of the double-minded, as they are unpredictable. (Both of those references are given in James 1, where he calls for living godly lives) helps us to navigate life’s paths with strangers or our intimate circle.

We’ve met such persons before. They can be found at home, at play, in church, at school, at work, in our wider communities … God forbid that that describes us.

If it does, there’s also Scripture to help us. Psalm 139 reminds us that God is everywhere. So there’s no hiding from God. And Psalm 51 is a full-on confession when we need to find words for ourselves.

These and other Scriptures help us to attend to God’s voice, whether in the silence of a moment, through the ‘check’ in our spirits, or the conviction we get from the Bible about issues that affect us deeply.

So, when we find ourselves ‘losing sleep’ over an issue, or we’re unable to make a decision about a matter, let’s take rest in God’s Word. We just might find the revelation that offers us comfort or direction.

Personal Challenge

Let’s not only read Scripture for the sake of spiritual knowledge; let’s also read to reveal God’s heart towards us.

May all we seek be found in Christ
