When we are overcome with worry, we may give in to the lie that we are all alone in our struggle. One songwriter explains it succinctly, ‘One man against the world…’ – or at least that’s how this former serial worrier used to feel. And, then to dispel that feeling, the urge to ‘share’ becomes exponentially greater. All that qualifies as illusions, for today’s Holy Nougat assures us that we are not alone, for God is with us –
“Then the Lord said to Isaiah, “Take your son Shear-jashub and go out to meet King Ahaz. You will find him at the end of the aqueduct that feeds water into the upper pool, near the road leading to the field where cloth is washed.” Isaiah 7:3 NLT
At the time of the prophetic directive, King Ahaz had every possible reason to be worried. The King of Israel was conspiring with the king of Syria to overthrow Judah; and Ahaz was not on very intimate terms with God! Based on the Natural odds – Judah was done for.
But God
God however, sent Isaiah (which interpreted means YHWH is salvation, and Ahaz would have known that) to find the king. Isaiah and his son – a remnant shall return – were given SPECIFIC directions; did you notice that? ‘At the end of the upper pool aqueduct, near the road leading to the field where cloth is washed’ – a GPS navigator would probably not be more precise! And based on the silence of Scripture on the matter, it is safe to conclude that Ahaz was exactly where God told Isaiah he would be located.
If God knows exactly where I am, then honestly I have NO need to fear. Because it means I am not alone. And the same goes for you. Every hair on our head is numbered, angels are assigned to us – God’s got our situation in hand. Even when it seems contrary! And truth be told, worry might increase greyhound hairs or wrinkles, but it doesn’t alter the gravity of any dire situation. But God can.
We therefore have to CHOOSE to Trust God in everything. To rest assured that despite what things may be/seem; God knows Exactly where we are, and is working things out for our good, according to God’s plan (especially if we are the Called).
In closing, I invite each of us to identify our exact location. Accept that, as per the Nougat, God has our exact coordinates. Breathe. Thank God for knowing our exact location. Invite God to visit us right where we are. Begin to celebrate. Await God’s confirming peace. Exhale.
