Hello

Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™

So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then.1 Peter 1:14 NLT

What a directive!

Living as God’s obedient child is not always easy. Not only does it require serious faith, but it necessitates making sacrifices at times and choosing to love Love beyond measure.

Paul invites us to put to death the old man (Colossians 3; Romans 6), for that’s how hard it gets at times. It may be a work/school situation, matters of the heart/family situations, or just plain old temptations; but many of us recall the challenge of responding spiritually to certain situations. Those “if I” moments usually require death to our natural instincts.

The sin nature within us knows that the heart will love whomever the heart desires. Obedience is more of a love response than a fear response. Remember in John 21, when Jesus poses the love question to Peter 3 times? And each time Peter says yes, he is given One singular command – feed Christ’s sheep. Isn’t that our mission too? And in John 14, Jesus is even more explicit – Love = Obedience.

So, if we’re finding obedience to God difficult, perhaps we need to see whether we’re losing that loving feeling. And if that’s the case, then it’s time for a heart to heart with God. Time to figure out what caused the dimming, when it began, and begin to work on improving that love relationship!

With God

Not others

Praying we don’t slip.
