Regret is often 20/20 in its perspective. It is occasioned by a wish we had known or realized something and reacted differently. In Today’s Holy Nougat™️, we find one surefire way to reduce regret. Ready for it?

Colossians 4:5 NLT

[5] Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity.

Live Wisely and Capitalize

When asked why we ought to live wisely with non-believers, I actually found myself regretting the times I didn’t. For there have been times when the decisions I made about my responses to and my actions around others were less than wholesome. And though the crooner himself, Frank Sinatra, would argue that ‘I did it my way’, we know that our way is not always God’s way.

More often than not, we may choose to respond or operate in the flesh. That isn’t necessarily wisdom. It could be fear, overconfidence, peer pressure, loneliness, or even sheer stupidity that triggers certain actions. Or, in some cases, our actions are governed by habits or learned over generations.

Proverbs tells us that ‘Wisdom cries out in the streets’, inviting us all to get Wisdom. Isaiah and Joshua further indicate to us that God’s Spirit is Wisdom. This is the same Wisdom we reference in 1 Corinthians 2:6-8, and Ephesians 1:15-19. Yet, we seem to think it is risky to operate in the Wisdom of God.

Application

Wisdom, i.e., Godly Wisdom, around non-believers can be a source of inspiration and transformation. In some instances, the decisions made, the advice offered results in others wanting to know the Source of our knowledge. There’s also the self-evident element that suggests that Godly Wisdom keeps us out of trouble. Moreover, Wisdom helps with self-control, a critical element when we are among others who would seek to imitate us.

We are not only invited to act with wisdom around this who do not believe in Christ, we’re urged to seek opportunities to share Wisdom. It stands to reason therefore that our walk should precede our talk.

Self-Check

When last have we heard that still, small Voice of God speaking to us, urging us on a different path? Did we heed the directive? Or were we too caught up in our lifestyles, unwilling or unable to heed God’s Spirit?

Assignment

Today, invite God’s Spirit into every aspect of our lives. And, having allowed God’s Spirit in, let’s chose to operate with Godly Wisdom.

May all we seek be found in Christ
