Hello
This is one of my very real struggles – waiting, that is. It might have begun with an internalized desire to disprove the theory that island people are perpetually late. Or from the inner child who doesn’t want to miss one single detail. Or just pure impatience. Whichever it is, I’m more of a last week timeline person rather than when it’s done it’s done. But, those of us who work with church folk; actually with people on the whole, KNOW that delay is inevitable in some plans. Even when delay costs. In the natural, this is not always appreciated, and sometimes our response to those who keep us waiting is not necessarily the most Christian.
But what about when the one who keeps us waiting is God – how do we respond? Do we rant and rage in our prayers, wondering whether God’s hearing is impaired or something? Do we withhold tithes or prayer or praise to get God mobilized (the way we would a child or employee)? Do we chastise God to get God moving?
Do we ‘solve’ the problem on our own, figuring we ought to deal with it until God has a moment to get to the matter? (Of course, our intervention might exacerbate the problem, rather than improve it.) Or do we grumble to any available ear, lamenting our situation?

Waiting on God is a trust issue, and when we trust God to BE God, then I believe waiting quietly in God’s presence may actually become the norm rather than the last resort.
