Nougat 19

Hello

There are times when no human can fully grasp what it is that we’re going through. When, if we were to be completely honest, we are not fully able to even articulate what we’ve been undergoing beyond a sigh. In those moments, I believe today’s Holy Nougat speaks for us

“From the ends of the earth, I cry to you for help when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the towering rock of safety,” Psalms 61:2 NLT

The psalmist appeals from a place of desolation and loneliness – the ends of the earth. It is sometimes referrred to as ‘behind God’s back’ in folk culture and implies that it’s the last place on God’s list. But, even there, God is able to hear, heed and help. For, as Psalm 139 reminds us, whether we are in the highest heaven on ‘Cloud 9’ or in the scariest part of hell in depression/desperate straits; even then God finds us and provides strength. And the Shepherd’s Psalm assures us of God’s provision in the Valley of Shadows.

We may be knocked down, life might seem to be playing the winning hand.

But

It’s not quite done until God says it’s over – please don’t throw in the towel. Don’t give up just yet. Remember Job, restoration came right there with vindication. The widow’s breakthrough came when she gave up what little control she had over survival and the woman was restored to health long after she spent her last on healthcare.

Jesus is That Rock on which a weary soul finds rest, behind which a restless spirit finds refuge. And if we are too weak to reach out, He will lift us toward safety, for our Rock is also The Good Shepherd. One cry, however faint, will trigger a divine response. Always with our best interests at heart.

Don’t delay. Cry out today!
