His disciples didn’t understand at the time that this was a fulfillment of prophecy. But after Jesus entered into his glory, they remembered what had happened and realized that these things had been written about him. John 12:16 NLT
Well; how’s that for being misunderstood? No fun huh. And yet, Jesus’ disciples didn’t get Jesus until after he rose from the dead. Truth be told, He is still being misunderstood and misrepresented by disciples such as you and me!
For a better grasp on the “How to” of being misunderstood, we note Jesus’ approach to same. He left them in their sin, provided the relevant explanation or revelation, and, in some instances such as above, He allowed the Holy Spirit to minister to the disciples’ souls.
Now for the fun part. We ought also to do likewise.
Lord,
Grant that we might be patient and tolerant of the other, just as you have been with us. We also claim understanding of Your Word today, tomorrow, always; for Your glory’s sake we pray dear Jesus, Amen.
