Blessings one and all
I’ve often wondered what it would be like to live right alongside Jesus the Rabbi. Sometimes I’m convinced that it would strengthen my faith, and then I take in one of His sayings and I’m not so sure… Take today’s Holy Nougat™ for instance;
Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!” Matthew 26:41 NLT
How does one watch for temptation? Is it easily recognizable and, is there recorded if it is recognized.
But Jesus knew that watching is primarily Human effort, and so, prayer becomes a core element in self protection. Especially when the temptation is being prepared by the enemy of our souls. For, just as was done with Jesus, the devil seeks to get at us through subtlety. There’s likely to be some truth, reality, validity connected to that which tempts us, but at the core, Life-giving is sadly lacking.
Jesus knows that or fleshly self cannot easily withstand temptation. And so, Our Advocate may need to plead our cause before God, our righteous judge. Now THAT is some serious defence against temptation.
Dear Lord
May the spotlight of God’s Love ALWAYS protect us from temptation, reminding us that there’s nowhere in the natural realm which can separate us from God. Thank you for your Blood coverage we pray dear Jesus, Amen
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
