Hi there my dear
Top of the day to you! It’s lovely weather to be a blessing isn’t it? Because that’s what today’s Holy Nougat is about
“From then on, because of Joseph the LORD blessed the household of the Egyptian and everything that he had in his house and in his fields.” Genesis 39:5 GNB
There was a cliche floating around at the turn of the century that oversimplifies this text. It is ‘blessed to be a blessing’. For me, it serves to remind me that inasmuch as I bask in blessings, others’ blessings may be dependent on me. Literally and figuratively. Just think, as God’s witnesses we are specially placed to showcase the glory of God. That’s a pretty formidable task until we recall that our God has already equipped us for whatever we are called to do.
That’s the good news.
The challenge for many of us is that we often fail to recognize our equipment and so we falter. Or we are playing the comparison game, measuring ourselves against others. In so doing, we fail once again to appreciate the One Who calls us and equips us. Can you imagine where Israel would be if David did not face Goliath with his slingshot? Or how Egypt would have managed had the prisoner Joseph not been there?
Now let’s consider our own contexts and spheres of influence. It is likely that while we are dreaming/worrying about all kinds of things, others are being blessed just by being around us. It may be our moment to shine. Remember, Egypt began to flourish almost immediately Joseph entered the scene, not just when he became Prime Minister.
My dear today might be the day we impact our world. Only God knows the details. So let’s tune in to ensure we are on the right track.
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
