Nougat 18

If you don’t stand for something, you’re going to fall for everything. Familiar quote? If not, what about today’s Holy Nougat?

“But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!” Revelation‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭NLT

As one whose athletic prowess resulted in the infamous ‘boatie pon two side’ position in many a game of dodgeball or ‘citings’ as we termed it; I bear embarrassed testimony to either statement.

In my instance, rather in my defense; I wasn’t lukewarm, but unskilled, however neither team wanted to be saddled with me. I kid you not. I only got to go in after every single player had had their fun and nothing I did could influence either team‘s score. And I really was that bad.

Unfortunately for many of us; our silence or failure to stand for our beliefs does affect our relationship with Christ. It can result in a gradual decline into apathy towards God and the Spirit of God without us even realizing how we got there. And that’s the danger zone.

Over time, we might become comfortable and complacent and unimpacted by the issues which matter to God. Like love for neighbor and self as testimony of and a response to God’s love. Like praying with and for the leprous in our midst. The little big things that matter.

Now I am not comfortable with the cast out terminology, but there it is. For we sometimes act as if God is a big St Valentines, incapable of responding to our complacency. It’s true that we can access God’s forgiveness – Peter did. But he, like many of us, came to his senses quickly. And when he did; My Lord and my God – Peter was on fire and revival broke loose! (Wouldn’t it be awesome to know we’ve contributed to revival ?)

Lord, we are tired of lukewarm; but ready for revival. Shake us out of our complacency and set us on fire for You. Hear us Lord we pray in Jesus name amen
