What’s your response to Jesus’ ascension? Consider today’s Holy Nougat and the the prayer reflection that follows

“Let us, your servants, see you work again; let our children see your glory. And may the Lord our God show us his approval and make our efforts successful. Yes, make our efforts successful!” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭90‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

On this ascension day dear Lord

We pause to recognize that You not only returned from death to life, but You also ascended up to Heaven, like the prophet Elijah. We scarcely see Your ascension as a sign, and yet, what greater proof could we see of Your power and glory! Elijah and Enoch are the only two people who we know of escaping physical death, and even then, people looked for Elijah’s return.

John reminds that You are greater than Elijah, and Your works, teachings and miracles stand as proof – feeding, healing, commanding the elements, discipling, prophecies, resurrection and ascension. It is more than a double portion dear God, for You are the Source of all miracles. We recognize You as Son of God! The One Who is ‘greater than Elijah!’

Your ascension was significant then to Your disciples, perhaps more so in one sense than it is to us now. Then, Your ascension was surety that You would send Your Spirit to comfort and direct. And You came through. Again, like Elijah Your anointing was poured out on those who were witness to You rising in Your glory to Your home in Heaven.

But, it was more; more than just those who witnessed. For those present in the moment when the double portion was outpoured also received the power and so do we! Despite failing to witness Your ascension, You’ve imbued us who accept, believe, and confess You as Lord to receive the power in that very moment we receive You as our Savior and Lord!

Hallelujah!

Thank You Jesus!

Lord, knowing this, we therefore celebrate Your ascension back to Heaven. For we have proof beyond the shadow of a doubt that as surely as Moses and Elijah visited You upon the Mount of Transfiguration, so it is that we will visit with You eternally in Heaven! Dear Jesus, what a sign. Because You’ve fulfilled every other promise and You are the fulfillment of ALL Biblical prophecy for redemption and eternal salvation!

We turn our spirits to the skies, knowing that You are here, yet in Heaven. That we are among the approved to experience You and Your Spirit. Because of You, that which we do in obedience to You for Your glory is guaranteed for success in You. We know that You’re with us and with all the saints of old, transcending time as You hold present, past and future together.

Thanks for coming back and remaining for those forty days.

Thanks for visibly ascending so there was and is no doubt about Your credibility

Thanks for including us in the future as part of that present moment

Thanks for including us in Your work and for guaranteed success when we work for You.

Thanks for Your promise that You Will Come Again

We praise You Jesus, and we worship You as Lord. Amen
