Hello

Have you ever stopped to wonder what pleases God? Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™

“Look at my servant, whom I strengthen. He is my chosen one, who pleases me. I have put my Spirit upon him. He will bring justice to the nations. Isaiah 42:1 NLT

This prophetic Word – reminiscent of the Holy Spirit’s comment at Jesus’ baptism – defines the work of God’s beloved as a dispenser of Justice as cause for God’s pride in God’s servant. That is Justice which has a preferential option for the poor and dispossessed. Not the kind which is blind or easily bribed or manipulated politically.

The temptation then is to ask what has changed since that prophetic utterance, Jesus’ baptism and now, and rightly so. Now let’s ask ourselves what we have been doing to fulfill that prophecy. Remember, we have been Called, Equipped and Sent by Jesus to complete the work He began. We have been authorized to do what He would be doing now in the flesh through the Holy Spirit’s Power. So now it’s time to act.

With so many dying for change, what’s stopping us from obeying Christ?

  • Fear – God’s got us covered.
  • Indifference – Christ desires that we live for the least among us.
  • Busy – let’s ensure that we understand the fast that God desires (see Isaiah 58).
  • Lack of motivation – time to reread Jesus’ call to each of us.

In this season of reflection, let’s each determine to be the one who pleases our God. Then, we might also hear, “This is my chosen one who pleases Me.” Wouldn’t that be so Divine?

In Christ’s love and grace . . .
