On the first Passover, the blood of lambs was poured out; smeared over the doorposts of the Hebrew homes – the firstborn sons were saved. That took a step of faith. Then there was The Passover, where the Blood of the Lamb was shed for everyone. Those of us who by faith believe, nearly 2000 years later, are called by His Name and have access to all heaven has in store.

After the first sin, blood was shed to cover Adam & Eve’s nakedness … nothing remained hidden. The Blood of the Second Adam was poured out to cover OUR nakedness, so that the relationship is restored, even when we, ‘Eve’, eat again and again and again of the fruit of unrighteousness.

And although we don’t consciously think it through, we have the assurance that Our Adam’s Blood clothes us and brings us back into relationship No matter how often we sin. So here we are, poised to remember; the suffering and the sacrifice… but also to smear His Blood over the lentils of our heart – to transform injustices, to release the captives and to invite others in … Today’s Holy Nougat reminds us of all this and more.

“For I pass on to you what I received from the Lord himself. On the night when he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and said, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”” 1 Corinthians 11:23-24 NLT

On this very specific Thursday, may our hearts’ song be ‘Love Unknown’ to someone in need
